In 2017 we joined forces with SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) because both organisations share the belief that activity and sport can be a means to achieve not just physical wellbeing, but also mental wellbeing.
Since then together we have run mental health training programmes for jogscotland leaders; put in joint funding submissions to allow us to start new programmes of work building on the wonderful success of the jogscotland and mental health movement; and just last month jogscotland was one of the first signatories of Scotland’s Mental Health Charter for Physical Activity and Sport.
We’d now like to invite our members to hear from SAMH on areas such as mental health and wellbeing, campaigning for change, mental health research and fundraising. ‘Opt in’ is a phrase you will hear a lot this year. It means that for SAMH to communicate with you on topics you are interested in they need 60 seconds of your time to give them your consent to do so. New members of jogscotland are now given the option to hear from SAMH when they sign up and they are doing so in their hundreds. But if you joined before mid-December 2017 (when we amended our membership form to include the SAMH opt-in) SAMH can’t connect with you in future unless you click here and confirm you want to hear from them.
