David Fallon’s hopes for the future of jogscotland
Our award-winning jogscotland programme is taking a leap forward, promising even more support and opportunities for everyone involved.
We feel the time is right to try and grow the nationwide network.
The initial step towards that was introducing our first strategy document to outline the mission ‘Keep Moving Forward’.
Our goal? To boost the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of everyone in Scotland . . . one jog at a time!
We then appointed our first Programme Manager with Jo Skead stepping into this key role after ten years of experience as jogscotland Development Officer.
To help further we have already confirmed affiliation fees will come into effect soon (with those fees adjusted after we listened to feedback from the community).
We also retain the option of FREE membership of jogscotland with inclusion a hugely important aspect of the programme.
Now our plans include offering even more learning and development to our incredible Jog Leaders – the real Super Heroes of the jogging world – and reaching even more communities across Scotland.
Jo Skead, Programme Manager at jogscotland, said: ‘jogscotland is a wonderful initiative that means so much to so many!
‘Over more than 20 years, the programme has helped thousands of people to become more physically active, to form friendships, strengthen communities, and make positive impacts that reach far beyond the people who attend our groups.’
With the launch of our new JustGo membership platform complete, the next step is opening jog group registration in August.
The introduction of a group registration fee isn’t as scary as it sounds This new approach is all about providing jog groups with the best possible support package.
It also introduces a basic level of governance, allowing jogscotland to better assist groups with development and welfare issues. Think of it as a safety net and a springboard, all rolled into one.
We are excited by this new step forward in our strategy and I want to thank our Jog Leaders for all their passion and dedication they bring to their roles; they are a vital asset to the success of the jogscotland programme.
‘I very much look forward to building a stronger jogscotland network with them as we keep moving forward.
‘We understand and appreciate that loss of the familiar can feel daunting and uncomfortable, but we are here to make the changes to the way our groups are governed as smooth and straightforward as possible.
‘‘I urge any groups who are unsure of the transition to reach out to me.’
Thanks, Jo.
